The Glenn Ford Award has been presented to a deserving student at Santa Monica High School since 1946 (Dad's alma mater / he graduated in 1934). The honoree must have evidenced a passion and ability in the field of acting and the performing arts.

In the past, the students honored received a little trophy to acknowledge their achievement, but recently, due to cost restraints, the individual trophy has been discontinued. There is now a large trophy upon which the Glenn Ford Award winner's name is engraved. We'd like to have the individual trophies be given again to those who are selected as a keepsake in addition to the larger engraved trophy which would remain on display at the school.

More importantly, a scholarship fund has been created in my father's name which will exist in perpetuity. The interest this fund earns throughout the preceding year will be given to the Glenn Ford Award recipient as a means to help them further their education or start their career. A check in any amount may be made out to either The Samohi Alumni Association or Santa Monica High School.

The important thing is to put on the memo: Glenn Ford Scholarship. All donations are tax deductible.The TIN (Tax Identification Number) for the Santa Monica Alumni Association is 95-4228641.

The high school routinely sends out acknowledgments to those who donate $250.00 or more, but that's a very large amount for one to give. So, if you request it at the time you send your donation, an acknowledgment will be sent to anyone who donates any amount which you can use for your tax records. However, armed with the TIN and your canceled check, that should really be all you'd need to claim a deduction.

A Premium and our "Thanks" for you donation

Be advised, we would be pleased to offer a premium to those donors who make a substantial donation to the Glenn Ford Scholarship Fund. For those donating $200 you’ll receive a gift of a book with a “Ex Libris Glenn Ford” bookplate in it. The books are from Glenn Ford’s personal Library. For a donation of $300.00 you’ll receive a small engraved keepsake (either a cigarette lighter / paper weight / small box etc.) with a greeting of thanks or best wishes above an exemplar of Glenn Ford’s signature. For a donation of $500 you’ll receive one of Glenn Ford’s personally worn dress or sports shirts with his name label sewn inside. For a donation of $1,000.00 you’ll receive any one of the aforementioned items as well as an invitation for you and a guest to visit Glenn Ford’s home in Beverly Hills, California for lunch and a tour of the home and estate. Please keep in mind, that all of these premiums are simply a way to say, “Thank You” but additionally you’ll receive the full benefit of your donation as a tax deduction. A check in any amount may be made out to either The Samoyed Alumni Association or Santa Monica High School.
